CNF teams from Armenia, Georgia and Western Europe came together last week at Borjomi Kharagauli National Park in Georgia to exchange experiences and learn from each other. The focus was on community involvement with protected areas and how CNF can better ensure that local people feel the benefits of and are proud of “their” parks. Presentations on the two countries’s differing legal frameworks and practices dealing with firewood collection from sustainable use zones were the catalyst for a deeper discussion on the topic.
The two-day session was capped off by a team excursion in beautiful Borjomi—truly a moment to reflect.
