Yerevan, October 7, 2025 – The American University of Armenia hosted the international conference “Road to COP17”, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment of Armenia, the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment, and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), with financial support from the European Union and the Government of Germany.
During the panel discussion on “Invest and Collaborate”, David Morrison, Executive Director of the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF), delivered a presentation on the role of Conservation Trust Funds in advancing biodiversity protection. He provided an in-depth overview of the structure and operations of biodiversity conservation funds, highlighting CNF’s unique model and its long-standing impact across the South Caucasus region.
Mr. Morrison placed particular emphasis on CNF’s work in Armenia, underscoring the Fund’s commitment to supporting protected areas through sustainable funding mechanisms, strategic partnerships, and long-term investment in conservation capacity.
The “Road to COP17” conference brought together international and local stakeholders to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration in the run-up to the upcoming CBD COP17. The discussions highlighted the crucial role of joint investment and cooperation in addressing global biodiversity challenges.
