What a pleasure to meet with the members of the Tbilisi Youth Club! A group of dedicated young leaders, the Club reflects on various social, cultural, environmental issues and works hard to raise knowledge and awareness of these important questions amongst their contemporaries.
With support from the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) under the auspices of ‘awareness raising’ of our UNDP/ GEF 6 Project and in collaboration with the Agency of Protected Areas (APA) and the NGO “Environment and Development” (ED), the Club is now equipped with all necessary technological tools (such as projector, laptop, printer) to spread the word through its extensive network on the Protected Areas System of Georgia and its rich biodiversity. One of the Club’s planned initiatives it to organize a Forum uniting around 15 public schools from around Tbilisi at which one of the key topics for focus will be Protected Areas and Biodiversity.
The Club hosted APA, ED and CNF on Friday, March 1 at the renovated Media Library of the Tbilisi Youth Palace. The Club members shared information about their current and future activities, the APA representative, Nini Kiknadze presented the key fact about the PA system of Georgia, and an interesting discussion on potential collaboration and future joint projects ensued.
