Tusheti Protected Landscape

Tusheti Protected Landscape covers 31,517 ha and is located on the southern slope of the Caucasus, near the Georgian-Russian border. Tusheti Protected Landscape was established in 2003 and is the first in Georgia to be awarded with the 5th category of the protected areas under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). It is managed at the self-government level. Tusheti Protected Landscape is rich in unique natural and cultural ecosystems. Unique national heritage level monuments of folk architecture, historical-cultural landscape and folklore traditions are found in Tusheti Protected Landscape.
