Racha National Park

Newly established (2023) Racha National Park is located within the administrative boundaries of Oni municipality, Georgia and its total area is 50 835 hectares. National Park territory includes the section of the main watershed range of the Central Caucasus. It is characterized by abundant rivers. The upper part of Racha highland region, in the northpart of the the national park is almost completely covered by glaciers. There are 1198 floristic species found in Racha-Lechkhumi, of which 272 are endemic to the Caucasus and Georgia. The National Park is characterized by a wide variety of mammals which are included in the red list of Georgia: Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), Lynx (Lynx lynx), Brown Bear (Ursus arctos), East Caucasian Tur (Capra cylindricornis), Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra).
