Batsara-Babaneuri Protected Area
Located in Kakheti region, Pankisi gorge, on the territory of Akhmeta municipality. Spread at an altitude of 700-2000 meters above sea level, represents one of the unique places with the remains of tertiary relict dendrophilia and almost 270 ha of yew forest with the huge size of tree stands, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Batsara-Babanauri Protected Areas encompasses Babaneuri Nature reserve and Ilto Managed Reserve. 240 ha of Zelkova stands, which is part of the Red List of Georgia is preserved in the Batsara-Babaneuri Protected Areas.
