Located 120 km southeast of Yerevan, Gnishik is the first community managed protected area in Armenia. The park’s 6,010 hectares protect over 900 species of plants and about 525 species of animals, of which 55 species of plants and 80 species of animals are listed in the Red Book of Armenia and registered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The park’s close proximity to Noravank Monastery makes it the perfect place to combine culture with nature.
