Armenia tourism MoU signing

On February 21, 2014,  CNF, The National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA), and the World Wide Fund for Nature in Armenia (WWF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to develop and implement  new activities for eco-tourism in specially protected areas of Armenia.

The three organizations will work together to develop and implement projects to promote eco-tourism development and draw investment to the protected areas and adjacent communities. The partners will develop specific programs to tackle the problems and spur eco-friendly tourism. Some of the issues to be addressed include:

  • development of tourist products
  • training of protected areas’ staffs and guides
  • creation of proper marketing information for tourists and tour operators
  • putting in place a transparent system for collecting entry and other fees

The project will rely on the combination of efforts of the involved institutions and will be in full partnership with the relevant authorities and institutions of Armenia.

The MoU was signed by WWF Armenia Director Karen Manvelyan, NCFA CEO Arman Khachaturyan and CNF Executive Director David Morrison. The deputy ministers of Nature Protection and Economy of the Republic of Armenia also participated in the signing ceremony.
